Mission Hills High School (MHHS) Sophomore Aisha Coons, 15, has type 1 diabetes and must run with a glucose monitor. She’s also the best cross country runner on the MHHS team. Aisha is so fast that she has lost track of the cross country trail, causing her to get lost. Yet she still ends up winning the race. / 2006

Oceanside Valley's Trevor Collins hurled an efficient 20 pitches in only three innings during the second round game of sectional tournament play against Encinitas National Little League. Oceanside pulled out a 10-0 win in five innings. / 2006

Tom Morey, 70, started making soft boards for people to ride waves on in 1955. He invented the first boogie board in 1971. Now Morey and his partner Chuck Herpick are developing a new form of skimboard with Victoria Skimboards. / 2006
