Sean Dufrene

About Sean

Chatty Cathy. Retired restaurant workhorse. A decent midfield soccer player. Neurotic perfectionist. Sean DuFrene has been called many things. But those who know him agree he’s a man with a vision.

A press pass with Sean's picture, name and the words "Staff Photographer, San Diego Union-Tribune" used to hang around his neck. After some time at the newspaper, Sean felt the need to further his knowledge with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography.

Sean filters his daily activities through a present-moment window, with the end resulting from a mixture of caffeine-induced enthusiasm blended with creativity to churn out the best possible image.

American Photography writer Miranda Crowell has described Sean's work as "witty, showing a need to maintain a sense of humor amid challenging times."

Mark Edward Harris (a judge in the American Photo 2009 Images of the Year Competition) has described Sean's work as "funny, yet sophisticated with an ability to bring balance of the frame. From the lighting, to the way every object has a purpose, his images pop."
